Cumulative Lebanese Cars Market Increased by 23.32% YoY by August 2026 to 9,885

According to market sources, cumulative Lebanese car market increased by 23.32% year-over-year (YoY) by August 2026, recording 9,885 cars.

On a monthly basis, car sales decreased by 18.62% to 1,521 vehicles in August 2026 compared to July 2026, likely reflecting a slight decline in consumer demand and market activity considering the challenging economic conditions. The distribution of cars sold was as follows:

Furthermore, the leading sellers of vehicles in Lebanon were Toyota, MG, and Hyundai with number of vehicles sold in August 2026 alone totaled 224, 161, and 141 respectively.

It is interesting to note that in August 2026, the share of non-gasoline cars and SUV (Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Fully Electric cars) recorded a total of 437 automobiles, distributed as follows:

Sales of new cars are much lower now compared to 2019 (18,165) before the financial crisis exploded. Currently, the demand for new vehicles is constrained by the absence of financing options, exacerbated by the lower purchasing power of the people. However, there has been some improvement in the past few years, and recent numbers up to August 2026 show more car registrations (9,885). Despite this increase, the number of cars sold is still, as mentioned, much lower than the sales figures from 2019. This shows that while the market is indeed recovering, it still faces big challenges and is far from returning to its pre-crisis levels.
